Special Olympics Nova Scotia is proud to partner with the team in Antigonish for the 2017 Provincial Summer Games from June 16-18th at St FX University.

“It is our goal to use the 2017 Summer Games as a learning experience for our volunteers, coaches and athletes as we prepare to host the Special Olympics Canada National Summer Games here beginning on July 31st and extending into August 4th”, says Matt Quinn, National Games Manager.

Sports Offered

The 2017 Summer Games will feature the sports of Athletics, Soccer, Bocce, Swimming, Basketball, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Golf, Softball, and a Youth Fun Day.  Athletes will come from across Nova Scotia and PEI to participate in the various sports as they work towards their goal of attending National Games in Antigonish in 2018.  Venues include St FX, Antigonish Golf and Country Club and Dr John H Gillis High School.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers will be in high demand as we work to host approximately 850 athletes and coaches in all the sports listed as well as meals, transportation, medical, victory dance, medals, and facility management.  “Volunteers can come for a minimum of 4 hours or for the entire weekend, we have a role for anyone and everyone,” says Mark Landry, Volunteer Coordinator.
