Safe Sport

Safe Sport:

Safe Sport Training:  Safe Sport is a mandatory training that all volunteers must complete

Creating a culture where everyone can thrive is a shared responsibility. The Safe Sport Training module developed by the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) will help anyone involved in sport identify and prevent situations of maltreatment.   Safe, inclusive sport environments help make sport rewarding and enriching for all. Safe Sport Training gives you the knowledge and skills to create those environments by recognizing, addressing and preventing maltreatment in sport.

We require all volunteers to complete the Coaching Association of Canada’s Safe Sport Training, you will find the information you need about what’s involved and how to begin. Our Training is available free of charge through our online portal, the Locker.

Together, we can make sport safe for everyone.  Please visit SAFE SPORT TRAINING  to complete the training and for more information.

Special Olympics Nova Scotia is committed to providing a safe and supportive sport environment for our athletes and volunteers. We have a screening and training program for our volunteers and coaches and follow the rule of two at all levels.

Any individuals involved with Special Olympics Nova Scotia including but not limited to Athletes, coaches, officials, staff, volunteers, and parents/guardians of Athletes, who wish to report any instance of misconduct or maltreatment may first contact Special Olympics Nova Scotia to try and resolve the matter informally. If not practical, or if preferred, the individual may report the complaint directly to Special Olympics Nova Scotia’s independent third-party responsible for managing complaints. The independent third party will then determine the appropriate forum and manner to address the complaint.
