Polar Plunge 2026

The Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) is a Special Olympics movement and one of the largest grass-roots supporters for fundraising & public awareness in the world.
The Annual Polar Plunge, now in its eighth year, has already proven an exciting and unique way to raise money for Special Olympics Nova Scotia. Members of the Nova Scotia Law Enforcement Torch Run (NSLETR) have created the coolest event in Halifax, and you can sign-up to be part of the fun!
The ever-popular Halifax Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Nova Scotia on Saturday, April 18th!

Join NSLETR members, Special Olympics Athletes, and cheering crowds at Grand Parade Square in Halifax for our Opening Ceremonies.
Then become part of the Torch Run that will lead us to the Halifax waterfront at The Queen’s Marque located on Lower Water Street.
At The Queen’s Marque, our BRAAAVE plungers will take a dip in the frigid cold Halifax Harbour waters – all for a great cause!
Important Information for Plungers:
- Plunger On-site Registration/Check-In:
- Saturday, April 18th, 2025, Registration opens at 10 am
- Halifax City Hall, Grand Parade Square, 1841 Argyle Street
- Registration from 10:00 am – 11:00 am
- Pay your registration fee if you have not already
- Special Olympics athletes do not pay a registration fee
- If you miss check-in, you cannot plunge
- You will be given a plunger bracelet and plunge number
- After the plunge show your bracelet to receive your Polar Plunge Toque
- Opening Ceremonies: Begins at 11:00 am with opening remarks
- Athletes Pledge
- Torch Run:
- Begins at 11:30 am
- Plungers & on-lookers will follow members of the NSLETR to the plunge location
- The Plunge:
- Plunges will begin at 12:00 pm at The Queen’s Marque, 1715 Lower Water Street
- BYOT (Bring Your Own Towel)
- Raise over $300 for a FREE custom Polar Plunge towel!
- Parking could be a challenge – please come early!
- Costumes are encouraged – The crazier the better!
- Come prepared, we will have facilities to change afterwards
- HOT Coffee and HOT Chocolate will be available after you plunge
- Please encourage your friends and family to come watch
