Guest Speaker
We are thrilled to announce our guest speaker, Loretta Claiborne Loretta is a world class athlete, accomplished motivational speaker – who happens to also be a Special Olympics athlete and a person who has an intellectual disability. She is a celebrated game changer and inclusion advocate. Loretta is the Chief Inspiration Officer at Special Olympics International, the first athlete to serve in this role. She is a true trailblazer in the Special Olympics movement.
Some of Loretta’s accomplishments include:
- Completed 26 marathons and finishing twice in the top 100 women in the Boston Marathon
- Competed in 6 Special Olympics World Games and 300+ local and state events in Pennsylvania
- Awarded the EPSY Arthur Ashe Award for Courage in 1996
- Joined Special Olympics in 1970
- Walt Disney Productions created a movie based on Loretta’s life, The Loretta Claiborne Story in 2000
